Join us at 10:15am for a family friendly experience at the Grace located at 219 S Brevard Street. Beginning at 10:15am we will be hosting a tour of America’s first amphitheater made entirely from upcycled pianos, the Pianodrome. Pianodrome is a radical re-imagining of the piano in today’s throw-away society. We create unique playable, community-centered sculptures made entirely from otherwise disused pianos. Pianodrome CIC was set up in 2017 by bandmates Tim Vincent-Smith and Matthew Wright to build the world’s first amphitheater made entirely from up-cycled pianos and have grown to have two full Pianodrome’s in Edinburgh, as well as a piano adoption scheme and sculpture work commissioned across the UK.
Once our tour is over we will stroll over to the Gallery with the Brooklyn Collective for an artist talk hosted by Andrea Baker. Throughout her career Andrea Baker has been celebrated as a performer of great integrity, intensity, and vocal ability. Her career has taken her to a number of the world’s greatest opera houses and concert halls: National Theatre Munich; Opera Bastille, Paris; Teatro alla Scala, Milan; Opera Australia, Sydney; Royal Opera Covent Garden, London; Berlin Philharmonic; Royal Albert Hall, London; Orchestra Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome; Konzerthaus, Berlin; The Barbican, London and Tokyo Opera City to name but a few. Andrea will now be performing at the Pianodrome in participation with Charlotte SHOUT and we are looking forward to her performance. The Artist Talk will begin at 11am and conclude at 12:30pm in The Gallery at the Brooklyn Collective.
