JazzArts Charlotte’s virtual live music series is excited to present vocalist Dawn Anthony and saxophonist Greg Jerrell with an uplifting evening of gospel and jazz.
“Greg Jarrell is a man with an enormous heart and an enormous musical gift.” Combine that with the heartfelt storytelling and incredibly compelling voice of Dawn Anthony, and you have a night of music prepared to touch your soul. Anthony and Jerrell have mastered their duo, with a livestream from Myers Park Baptist every week. In this presentation, this pair will bring us a combination of gospel and progressive jazz like Michael Porter.
Dawn Anthony is a staple of the Charlotte jazz music scene, is a teaching artist, lecturer, and performer. She has headlined tributes to Nancy Wilson and to Ella Fitzgerald, among many other performances in the JAZZ ROOM, as well as serving as an educator for our online vocal classes well as the exciting Webop program. We most recently heard her talents, as the vocalist for We Insist!.
Greg Jarrell is co-founder of QC Family Tree, a community of rooted discipleship in west Charlotte whose mission is to support economic opportunity within the Enderly Park neighborhood. As a jazz saxophonist, he regularly performs in concert and club venues across North and South Carolina in jazz, classical, and commercial settings. Greg combines that passion with his jazz saxophone to make an impact whenever and wherever he is.
