Details

Born in apartheid South Africa, singer-songwriter and guitarist Jonathan Butler overcame poverty to become the first non-white artist on South African radio and TV. His music famously inspired Nelson Mandela during his imprisonment. Signed to Jive Records at thirteen, Butler earned Grammy nominations for his hit "Lies" and instrumental "Going Home."
Today, the spiritual musician remains a devoted family man and passionate performer, embodying the quiet resilience of his homeland.
