This fall, Northeastern University – Charlotte is bringing leaders together to discuss the “Path Toward Healing: A conversation around building equity in Charlotte’s healthcare community.” With the recent announcement of North Carolina’s first chief health equity officer as well as the healthcare challenges throughout the pandemic, there is a renewed focus on health equity. However, the question of what can be done to ensure everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their full health potential regardless of their social position or socially determined circumstances has been top of mind for Charlotte’s health care leaders for years.

On Wednesday, November 17, Northeastern University’s Senior Vice Provost and Chief Inclusion Officer, Karl Reid, will be joined by Tanya Blackmon (EVP and Chief Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Officer at Novant Health) and Gibbie Harris (Mecklenburg County Public Health Director) to discuss health equity – what has been done, where we are now and what the path toward healing looks like for all residents of the metro Charlotte community. The conversation will be moderated by Mike Collins, host of WFAE’s “Charlotte Talks.”
