Mixed Metaphors Productions' newest immersive theatre piece, SwimCap, presented by Mixed Metaphors Productions and Evolutionary Aquatics. SwimCap is a piece of immersive theatre created from scratch for Charlotte, by Charlotte, and about Charlotte.
This powerful multi-sensory show will move you through the past, present, and future of Black swimming. You’ll see and participate in art of different mediums in a festival-style experience that culminates in a celebration of Black swimming.
SwimCap exposes cultural myths and creates new water rituals to help empower Charlotteans for an equitable future. Combining theatre, visual art, and aerial performances to trace the ways that Black swimming has shaped Charlotte.
SwimCap will take place from August 18th-August 20th 7:30 each night and 2:00 pm 8/19 & 8/20.
At the Brooklyn Grace (formerly Grace A.M.E. Zion Church), 219 South Brevard Street in Charlotte.
