Author, activist and filmmaker Jose Antonio Vargas revealed a long-held secret in 2011. He was an undocumented immigrant. As a child, he was sent to live with his grandparents in the United States. He didn't discover his immigration status until he tried to get a driver's license.
Vargas will talk about his story, how we define "American" identity, the role of the media in shaping immigrant narratives and more on Sunday, September 24.
"Understanding Immigrant Stories in a Changing Nation" is part of WFAE's EQUALibrium Live series.
