According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, roughly two in five people who are in jail or prison have a history of mental illness. This is twice the prevalence of mental illness within the overall adult population.

"Fractured: A Public Conversation Chapter One" explores how the lack of psychiatric beds and prolonged waiting periods for treatments can delay court proceedings for months or even years.

This event is in conjunction with our series "Fractured." It's produced in collaboration with FRONTLINE, the PBS series. "Fractured" looks at how North Carolina's mental health and criminal justice systems fail the mentally ill.

Free admission. Registration requested. Seating is limited.
