Uptown Spook-tacular All Month Long

Fall has officially arrived in Uptown, and October is looking pretty chill to us. Crisp evenings, live music, and spook-tacular favorites on the big screen, our calendar is stacked with events that deliver everything you could want out of the season. Whether you’re looking for a laid-back night with friends, a free concert after work, or something a little quirky, this neighborhood has it going on.

Movies in Fourth Ward Park

There’s just something magical about watching a movie outside on a crisp Fall night. Uptown’s Movies in Fourth Ward Park is back, serving up classic, family-friendly films every Friday night this month.

Pack your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks (yes, you can bring your own picnic!) and settle in for a cozy evening. A few small concessions may be available onsite, but the main idea is to bring what you love and enjoy the show. Each screening has its own free RSVP on Eventbrite, so snag your spot early.

Lineup:

  • October 4: Ghostbusters
  • October 11: The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • October 18: Addams Family Values
  • October 25: Hocus Pocus

Make it a night out:
Before the movie, grab dinner in the Fourth Ward a few go-tos include:

  • Alexander Michael’s (just steps away from the show, a cozy Fourth Ward staple for classic comfort food)
  • Crave Dessert Bar (just like its name, find something sweet or savory right around the corner from Fourth Ward Park)
  • The Capital Grille (for a more upscale pre-show meal)
  • Church & Union (fun cocktails and share plates right in the heart of Uptown)

Pro Tip: Don't call it a night yet, there's still room for dessert at Crave Dessert Bar or Golden Cow Creamery.

Weekend Warmup Series at Romare Bearden Park

Your Thursday plans for October? Solved.

The Weekend Warmup Series, presented by Ascent Uptown, is the ultimate after-work hang. Starting at 3 PM, the park transforms into a lively hub with a farmers market offering fresh local goods, snacks, and treats. A rotating lineup of live bands (see below) will perform starting at 5:30pm.

Grab a friend, wander the market, and stick around for the music, it’s free, fun, and the perfect transition from work mode to weekend mode.

Lineup:

  • October 2: Chris Taylor Band (pop/rock variety)
  • October 9: Blue Monday (MTV generation classics)
  • October 16: CJ Baker Band (dance variety)
  • October 23: Groove Machine (70s tribute)
  • October 30: September (Earth, Wind & Fire tribute)

Make it a whole evening:
Grab a to-go dinner to watch the band from a nearby Uptown restaurant like:

  • Valhalla (local pub featuring rotating craft brews, artisan cocktails & from-scratch American eats)
  • French Quarter Restaurant (casual, local favorite for Cajun classics)
  • Angeline's (fresh Italian with handmade pasta just a short walk away)

And if you’re not ready to call it a night after the last song, stop by Ink N Ivy, Merchant & Trade, or Graham Street Pub & Patio for a late-night drink.
