Saturday, June 17th: On Saturday, from 12 PM to 10 PM, immerse yourself in the History of Juneteenth Storytime. Delve into the significance and legacy of this important day and explore its historical context. Witness the creativity and innovation of young entrepreneurs at the Young Entrepreneurs Black Wallstreet, showcasing their talents and contributions. Additionally, pay homage to the remarkable artists Young Jean Michel Basquiat and Romare Bearden, and celebrate their invaluable contributions to the art world.
Don't miss the real history of black watermelon farmers, a captivating exploration of an often-overlooked aspect of Black agricultural heritage. Later in the day, engage in the true meaning of Spades during an exciting tournament. Groove to the beats of DJ Pete, Tiffani D, and more to be announced, as they provide a lively musical backdrop throughout the day.
Sunday, June 18th: From 12 PM to 5 PM, honor Black fathers and prioritize mental health. Charlotte's own Eddie Owens, a prominent radio personality, will host a thought-provoking panel discussion titled "Black Man Consciousness and Evolution into Fatherhood." Esteemed Black men from our community, including special keynote speaker Lamon Brewster, Former Heavyweight boxing champion and coffee and cigar entrepreneur, LT. Muhammad with CMPD, and Kevin Thomas, author and head of DEI director with CRVA, will share their insights and experiences. Witness the CMPD vs. Pitmaster grill-off, highlighting the great things CMPD does in our community while enjoying the festive atmosphere.
