Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have held their summer training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina every year since the franchise began.
The NFL’s Carolina Panthers play home games at Bank of America Stadium in Uptown’s Third Ward neighborhood. The Panthers joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1995, and appeared in Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 and Super Bowl 50 in 2016.
Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets name returned to its rightful home in Buzz City in 2014. The Hornets are members of the NBA’s Southeast Division in the league’s Eastern Conference. The team is largely owned by former NBA player Michael Jordan, who acquired controlling interest in the team in 2010. The Hornets play their home games at Spectrum Center in Charlotte Center City.
Charlotte FC
Charlotte FC is an American professional soccer club based in Charlotte. The team quickly found itself in the heart of the Queen City after beginning its inaugural season in March 2022. Charlotte FC competes in Major League Soccer as a member of the league's Eastern Conference.
Charlotte Knights
The Charlotte Knights moved to their new home at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte Center City in 2014. The Knights play in the International League of Minor League Baseball and are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
Charlotte Independence
The Charlotte Independence joined the United Soccer League (USL) as an expansion team in September 2014. The team is based in Matthews, North Carolina.
